Update for customers on Abbeyblyth interim liquidation

The below email was sent to all Abbeyblyth Animal Boarding customers on Saturday 28 Feb 2026 Dear Abbeyblyth customers,
I'm writing with deep regret to announce that Abbeyblyth Animal Boarding will be winding down its operations. This means we cannot accept new bookings or commit to any care after 20 April 2026.
I know this will be incredibly difficult for our community because Abbeyblyth is a home away from home for so many. Please know all pets currently with us are happy and being looked after with the same high standard of care as always. Interim liquidation On Wednesday, the High Court appointed an interim liquidator to manage the company’s affairs due to serious governance matters involving one of the company’s directors. The interim liquidator has assessed the situation and recommended a gradual wind-down of the business. Please be assured, the director responsible is no longer involved in Abbeyblyth operations and will not be returning to the property. I want to be clear that the actions which led to this outcome do not reflect the values upon which this business was built. Integrity, accountability, and genuine care have always been at the heart of Abbeyblyth. I sincerely apologise for the disruption this situation causes to our many customers with advance bookings. It is upsetting that circumstances beyond the control of myself and our dedicated staff have brought us here. Your pets remain our top priority. During this period, cats and dogs in our care will have 24/7 monitoring with management on call. Josh and our experienced team are managing day-to-day operations, meaning we are able to honour all bookings through 20 April 2026 to include the Easter holidays. Bookings • Existing bookings: All bookings until 20 April 2026 will be honoured. Any stays booked for after this date will be automatically cancelled.• New bookings: We cannot accept new overnight dog bookings. Day-stay and cattery bookings can still be made for dates up to April 20, 2026.• No cancellation fees: If you want to cancel a booking, we won’t charge fees. Payments If you recently made a payment intended for us that appears as “Mountain Bike Nelson Limited” on your bank records or that went to another BNZ account, please know we are treating your payment as received. The liquidator is handling the recovery of those funds; you do not need to take any action. We are restoring EFTPOS facilities and appreciate your patience. In the meantime, we request payment via invoice to the Hira Homestead Limited ANZ account. That account number is: 06-0705-0641588-00. Looking ahead I have been so touched by our staff’s professionalism and their commitment to your pets. Our focus is on winding down responsibly while ensuring every cat and dog enjoys the same great Abbeyblyth experience. On behalf of the team, thank you for trusting us with your beloved pets. Warm regards,Nicole Director of Abbeyblyth Animal Boarding
